Telangana Cabinet meet today, focus on welfare schemes
Hyderabad: The state cabinet meeting on Saturday will discuss the welfare schemes and projects to be launched and or announced on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day on June 2, ways and means of resource mobilisation due to the impact of the war situation in West Asia on Telangana, and whether to extend the breakfast scheme to junior colleges in the state.
The cabinet will also discuss austerity measures to be adopted against the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fiscal prudence amid global uncertainties. Sources did not rule out the possibility of the cabinet discussing the proposed Private Schools Fee Regulating and Monitoring Bill, paddy procurement and crop diversification, expansion of the Metro rail network, and measures to ensure that talks are held with the Maharashtra govt for taking up the Tummidihatti project at a height of 150 metres.
The cabinet will finalise the number of Indiramma housing units to be sanctioned as part of the launch of phase-II of the scheme in Adilabad on June 2. The meeting is also expected to take a final call on opening the Cheyutha pensions window for two lakh new applicants.
Before the cabinet meeting at the state secretariat in the evening, chief minister A Revanth Reddy and a couple of his cabinet colleagues will visit Yadagirigutta in the morning, where the CM will offer prayers to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at the temple and later lay the foundation stone for a Vedic School and other projects, before returning to the city.
