Hyderabad: The state govt has decided to implement the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) through a dedicated Employee Health Care Trust comprising six representatives from employee unions and two representatives of pensioners, ensuring stakeholder participation in the administration of the scheme.
The govt has also decided to appoint a serving govt employee as the CEO of the trust. A formal GO regarding the composition of the trust committee is expected soon.
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to hold a review meeting on Monday on the implementation of the EHS. As part of the scheme, the state govt is preparing to issue digital health cards to employees, pensioners, and their eligible family members. The EHS is designed to provide cashless medical treatment to govt employees and pensioners through a network of empanelled hospitals.
Meanwhile, the state govt on Sunday deducted 1.5% of the basic pay from the salaries of govt employees towards the EHS. Although some of unions criticised the deduction, stating that health cards have not been issued, govt employees JAC secretary general Eluri Sreenivasa Rao told
TOI that the govt and employees would each contribute Rs 44 crore every month towards EHS cashless treatment. “This is the agreement signed between the JAC and the govt. The govt has said that the EHS will be implemented from June, and as a result, the employees’ monthly contribution has been deducted from their salaries,” he said.
