Revanth briefs Kharge on budget

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, along with TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal in New Delhi on Tuesday. After introducing the newly elected Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy from Telangana, first to KC Venugopal and later to Kharge, Revanth and Mahesh Goud also discussed the current political situation in Telangana with the party leadership, including the issue of party veteran T Jeevan Reddy.

While the CMO stated that it was a courtesy meeting with Kharge and Venugopal following Vem Narender Reddy's recent unanimous election to the Rajya Sabha, sources said the discussions also focused on improving the coordination between the party and the Congress govt in Telangana.




The AICC on Monday constituted a coordination committee to ensure smooth functioning and coordination between the govt of Telangana and the Congress party. The committee includes CM Revanth, deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha and Seethakka, along with AICC secretary Ch Vamshi Chand Reddy and AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.

Revanth is learnt to have explained to Kharge the focus areas of the Congress govt in the annual state budget to be presented on Friday, as well as efforts to implement all six guarantees and promises made by the Congress. The CM also briefed him on the Gandhi Sarovar project, sources said. Jeevan Reddy's issue was discussed as the party veteran has hinted at quitting the Congress. The appointment of directors to various corporations also came up during the discussion. There was also a brief discussion on elections to five state assemblies and the possibility of Telangana Congress leaders campaigning in a couple of states, sources added. MPs Mallu Ravi, Suresh Shetkar and Balram Naik were also present.
