HYDERABAD: Officials who went to N R R Nagar in Borabanda to participate in Prajapatham on Saturday had a bitter experience with citizens led by Jubilee Hills legislator (Congress) P Vishnuvardhan Reddy detaining them for nearly half-an-hour.
As per the schedule, around 20 officials from revenue, health,
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Arogyasri reached the welfare office site-III at N R R Nagar in Borabanda at around 9 am.
The Jubilee Hills legislator along with 300 people and local corporators arrived at the venue at around 10.30 am. He got into a heated argument with officials over the government’s failure to fulfill the promises made by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during the Rachabanda programme. The officials tried in vain to convince the MLA.
Meanwhile, the MLA and locals detained the officials in a room and tried to lock them up. However, police arrived at the venue and foiled their plan.
Later, the MLA spoke to the media and criticised chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for failing to fulfill assurances given during the Rachabanda programme.
Meanwhile, responding to the MLA’s criticism, the chief minister’s office (CMO) issued an official release stating, “All assurances made by the chief minister during the Rachabanda programme held on February 8, 2011, at Borabanda of Jubilee Hills assembly constituency have already been fulfilled.”
