Girl, boyfriend & brother confessed to killing her mom, say Hyderabad cops

Hyderabad: The 16-year-old girl, her boyfriend and his minor brother have all confessed to killing the girl’s mother at her home in Shapurnagar in Jeedimetla on the night of June 23, police said on Wednesday. The post-mortem report also confirmed that the girl’s mother was strangulated. Police said the girl plotted to kill her mother (39) for suddenly becoming averse to her relationship with Shiva after initially allowing it. The girl, boyfriend P Shiva Kumar (19) and his 17-year-old brother were remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday. The minor girl and boy were sent to juvenile homes in Nimboliadda and Saidabad respectively, while Shiva was sent to Chanchalguda prison.“Her mother knew about the relationship. Shiva had even stayed at the victim’s home a few times. But recently she was not happy with her daughter's relationship. She is alleged to have even beaten the girl twice. Upset with her mother's behaviour, the 16-year-old instigated Shiva to kill her,” Balanagar DCP K Suresh Kumar.Police said that from June 8 to 12, with her mother’s consent, the girl and her 14-year-old younger stepsister had even stayed at Shiva’s grandmother’s house in Kattangur. But on their return, the victim told her to cut all ties with Shiva. On June 19, the girl left home in a huff with Shiva for his native place in Nalgonda. The mother had then lodged a kidnap complaint against Shiva and police traced the girl on June 20. Shiva was arrested and later released with a notice. Police said the kidnapping case against him still stands. “Subsequently, the girl instigated Shiva to kill her mother. Shiva and his brother came to the house at 5:40 pm after ensuring her sibling was away. While the girl stood guard at the door, the two brothers strangled the mother with a chunni and left. But when the girl called her sister back from a friend’s home nearby, the victim suddenly showed signs of life. The girl tactfully sent her sister to their aunt’s home for help and then called the brothers to finish the job. By the time the younger daughter returned with her aunt, her mother was killed,” said an investigator.Based on the younger sister’s complaint, police registered a murder case.A special team led by Jeedimetla inspector G Mallesh arrested the accused within 24 hours near Medchal on Tuesday.
