HYDERABAD: Taking objection to a male student having long hair, a teacher allegedly forced him to undergo tonsure. The incident took place at a private school in Miyapur on Saturday.
On learning about it, the boy's parents arrived at the school and staged a protest. Mild tension prevailed, and police were called to the spot. Following the protest, the concerned teacher, was terminated from service by the school management for alleged misconduct.
When the teacher found the class 9 student with long hair, the boy told him that he was growing it for religious purposes and that he would soon undergo tonsure, offering his hair in a temple. Despite this, the teacher allegedly forced the student to undergo tonsure.
The school management issued a statement: "This is to inform you that, in response to the issues raised by your behaviour and the suffering that parents faced due to these issues, such behaviour is not acceptable on school premises. We have therefore decided to terminate your employment."
No police case was registered. Once the protesters left the premises, the police also departed.
