An unforgettable Kuchipudi recital in Golconda
History of Hyderabad was brought to life in this Kuchipudi recital
The story of Hyderabad was told like it was never told before, through a unique Kuchipudi recital on Wednesday evening, with the majestic Golconda Fort making for a surreal backdrop. And those who witnessed the show hosted by FICCI FLO, Hyderabad Chapter, took home an exhilaratingexperience that will be etched in their minds forever.Legend has it that Kuchipudi was a dying art in the kingdom of Golkonda in the 17th century. but it was revived after the last Qutb Shahi ruler, Abul Hasan Tana Shah, witnessed a Kuchipudi performance and was so enthralled by it, that he gifted the dancers the Kuchipudi village. this story was retold beautifully in the dance ballet Jayaho Golconda, by Kuchipudi exponent Deepika Reddy and her troupe of 25 dancers. This was followed by Telangana Vaibhavam, where performers paid an ode to the iconic monuments of Telangana and the lore associated with them —Golconda’s Bhakta Ramdas, Charminar’s Bhagmati and the story of Taramati-Premawati.
