HYDERABAD: Municipal administration and IT minister KT Rama Rao’s tour of Khammam has once again been deferred. Rama Rao’s fresh dates of visit to Khammam would be announced in a couple of days.
Though KTR’s office has said his Khammam visit scheduled on Monday was deferred due to the parliamentary committee meeting on e-commerce and the Telangana government’s Space Tech Policy innovation programme scheduled in Hyderabad, sources said the suicide of a BJP leader and infighting in TRS in Khammam district were also among the reasons.

The political heat has increased in Khammam town and district with BJP and TRS activists raising slogans against each other. Even Congress has alleged that TRS, led by transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, has been harassing and foisting police cases against Congress members.
Earlier, KTR was supposed to visit Khammam on April 16, which was postponed to April 18. Now, his visit to the district even on this date has been deferred. Sources said there was infighting in the ruling party between supporters of former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, ex-MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
KTR was supposed to inaugurate and also lay foundations for several projects in Khammam during his visit, followed by addressing a public meeting at Lakaram Tank Bund in the town. However, KTR would tour Warangal and Hanamkonda districts on April 20. He will address public meetings in these districts. Panchayat raj and rural development minister along with officials inspected the project sites to be visited by KTR and reviewed arrangements being made for his visit.
