ZP CEO flags need for basic facilities at MGNREGA worksite
Pic: Shade for MGNREGA workersRaichur: Zilla panchayat CEO Ishwar Kumar Kandoo on Tuesday inspected ongoing trench bund construction works under the MGNREGA scheme at Arasigera tanda, within Chandrabanda gram panchayat limits of Raichur taluk.During the visit, Kandoo interacted with labourers at the worksite, located in a forest area, and reviewed arrangements on the ground. He directed officials to ensure the availability of basic facilities such as drinking water, shade and first-aid kits, especially in view of rising summer temperatures.The CEO also instructed officials to record workers' attendance twice a day using the NMMS mobile application and emphasised timely reporting and strict adherence to prescribed work norms.Later, Kandoo visited the primary health centre (PHC) at Chandrabanda village and inspected facilities including the laboratory, vaccine storage room, maternity ward, male and female wards, operation theatre and library. He sought details from staff on the functioning of the health centre.Expressing displeasure over poor sanitation in and around the PHC, he pulled up officials and staff and directed them to maintain cleanliness on a priority basis.Kandoo also inspected the solid waste management unit and reprimanded the panchayat development officer (PDO) for lapses in segregation of dry and wet waste. He further reviewed the progress of the faecal sludge management unit being implemented under the rural drinking water and sanitation department, and instructed officials to expedite pending works and ensure timely handover.The inspection was attended by taluk panchayat executive officer Chandrashekhar Pawar, executive engineer Satish, assistant director (rural development) Hanumant, assistant directors Shivappa and others, along with gram panchayat staff.
