Two die due to lightning strike in Sedam taluk
Kalaburagi: In two different villages of Sedam taluk in Kalaburagi district, two people died due to heavy rain, wind and lightning on Thursday evening.
Farmer Narsappa, 60, and his bull died on the spot when they were struck by lightning while working in the field at Jakanapally village under Mudhol police limits.
It is said that even though rain and thunderstorms started in the evening, Narsappa was working in the field. The villagers said that he and the ox died due to a heavy lightning strike. Mudhol police visited the incident site and conducted an investigation, registered a case and took further action.
Another incident took place in Pakal village, where Lakshman Badiger died on the spot as a result of a lightning strike in the cemetery ground while the funeral of a person of the village was going on. In this regard, the police of Mudhol station are also visiting the place and checking.
Due to the rain, wind and continuous thunder on Thursday evening, the authorities have requested the farmers and the public to take precautions during the rain.
