Plaint over fake account posting defamatory content against Jarkiholi
Belagavi: A complaint has been lodged with the Belagavi Cyber Crime police station against unidentified persons for allegedly operating a fake Facebook account and posting defamatory content targeting former minister Satish Jarkiholi.
The complaint was filed by Valmiki community leader Rajashekhar Talawar, who alleged that a Facebook account named ‘Karunada Kurubagoudru Mattu Bandaya Dhwani’ had circulated false and misleading information with the intention of tarnishing Jarkiholi’s reputation.
According to the complaint, the account published a post claiming that Satish Jarkiholi had collected signatures from 37 MLAs against Siddaramaiah and that the latter’s resignation as chief minister was a direct consequence of the alleged letter. However, Jarkiholi has categorically denied the allegation.
Talawar alleged that the fake account was created as part of a deliberate conspiracy to malign Jarkiholi’s image by spreading baseless accusations and misinformation on social media. The complaint further stated that the posts were designed to create discord between the Kuruba and Valmiki communities and disturb communal harmony and public peace.
The complainant has urged the Cyber Crime police to conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against those responsible for creating and operating the fake account and disseminating defamatory content. He also sought immediate action against individuals spreading fake news and attempting to incite social tensions on social media.
