Man hacked to death over rivalry in Dodwad

Belagavi: A man was hacked a relative to death in Dodwad village of Bailhongal taluk on Tuesday over an old grudge and a fight over crossing the road near their houses.SP K Ramarajan told the media on Friday that an old grudge led to a verbal altercation that later ended in the murder of a man. A case has been registered and police have arrested the accused.The deceased is Mahesh Ujjanimath, 33, a photographer, while Rudrayya Ujjanimath, 30, is the accused. The two relatives had differences over the road near their house.On Tuesday evening, while the victim was sitting near his house, the accused attacked him with a sharp weapon. Mahesh, who was seriously injured, was treated at the PHC before being taken to Bailhongal taluk hospital, where he died.Bailhongal DYSP Veeresh Hiremath and Kittur CPI Shivanand Guduganatti visited the spot, he said.A case has been registered and police are investigating, he said.
