Hubballi/ Dharwad/ Belagavi: The 9th
International Yoga Day was observed with much enthusiasm across the city on Wednesday. Various schools and colleges, social organisations, youth circles, women associations, temple authorities had organised mass yoga events and many yoga gurus guided enthusiasts.
The 5th additional district and sessions judge SB Handral inaugurated a yoga event organised by Taluk legal services samiti, Bar association, and information department at the Court complex.
Advocate RG Matti led the yoga session.
International yoga trainer and registrar BS Anami inaugurated the Yoga Day event at KLE Technological University where Nivedita and Shivamurthy demonstrated yogasanas before all students, faculty and management members. Students of Poddar International School formed a chain to spell the word ‘yoga’ and attracted onlookers at Kusugal Road.
IMA Hubballi president Dr Subhash Babruwad inaugurated a yoga session at MVP’s SR Shetty Primary School and said yoga is a lifestyle to maintain physical and mental health. The event was organised by Hubballi-Dharwad Ward Committee Balaga.
Inaugurating a yoga programme at Adarsh PU Science College, Lingaraj Patil said that Yoga is a unique gift of India to the world. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it popular across the world,” he added.
Yoga and Pranayama sessions were held at Chalukya Railway Institute, Hubballi, by Usha Moad, a yoga trainer. Demonstrating yoga to residents of Lingaraj Nagar, yoga teacher Sujata Navale said yoga should not be restricted to International Yoga Day, but should be practised on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, Yoga Day was observed in Ballari, Vijayanagar and Koppal on Wednesday with thousands of people participating in sessions.
Dharwad: Yoga remedial for health problemsHundreds of people of all age groups participated in the Yoga sessions held at various places in Dharwad on Wednesday to mark the World Yoga Day. The dignitaries who addressed the gatherings emphasised the need to perform Yoga to attain mental peace and lead a healthy life. Yoga is remedial for all health problems, they said.
Navalgund MLA N H Konaraddi and other senior citizens, students, government officials and members of various voluntary organisations participated in the Yoga Day events organised by the district administration and Ayush department early in the morning.
The educational institutions which had trained the students and teachers in Yoga since last one month performed various postures and held meditation sessions.
Yoga sessions were held at all the schools and colleges under KE Board, Maratha Vidyaprasarak Sangha, University of Agricultural Sciences, SDM University and SDME Society, Leelavati Charantimath Education Society, JSS, KLE Society, Vani Seva Samaj, Karnatak University, Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, DIET, Dharwad Regional Science Centre and Patanjali Yoga Peetha among others.
Shobha Hulikatti and Samyukta Mishrikoti of Paramahansa Yoga Peetha guided a yogasana session held at their institution.
Belagavi event held at SVSHundreds of people including students, yoga players, political leaders and officials performed yogasanas for 45 minutes on the premises of
Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) here on Wednesday, commemorating the 9th International Yoga Day. The event was organised jointly by the district administration, Belagavi city corporation and Ayush department in association with several other government departments along with Bharat Seva Dal, Scouts and Guides, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Maharushi Yog Health Foundation, and several other yoga training centres.
Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi launched the mass yoga event on the steps of West entrance gate of the SVS. He said the credit of introducing yoga science to the world goes to the prime minister Narendra Modi.
ZP CEO Harshal Bhoyar, additional DC KT Shantala, PWD executive engineer Sobarad, ZP officer Ravi Bangareppanavar, Ayush officer Dr Shrikant Sunadholi, tahasildar Siddaraj Bhosagi were present.
