Raichur: Four people lost their lives in two separate road accidents in the city on Saturday. In an early-morning hit-and-run accident, three youths were killed on the spot. According to police, around 3am, a speeding truck collided with a bike carrying three men near Basaveshwara Circle. The victims are Muhammad Ali Pasha, 24, Noor Muhammad, 19, and Fayaz, 26. They were travelling on Lingasugur Road towards Ganj Circle when the truck hit their bike. Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene. The bodies were sent to RIMS Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
In the second incident on Station Road, a student travelling in an autorickshaw fell off, and a passing KKRTC bus ran over him. The deceased is Basavaraj Arakera, 21, a final-year BSc student at a govt degree college. Police have seized the bus and arrested the driver. Both cases are registered at Raichur traffic police station.
