10 convicted in 2021 murder case awarded life imprisonment in Raichur

Raichur: The 3rd additional district and sessions court in Raichur sentenced 10 individuals to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 19,500 each in connection with a murder that took place in 2021 in Gudadanal village under Lingasugur police station limits.The convicted persons are: Jagadish, Yamanur, Mahankalappa, Basavaraj Doddamani, Hanumanti, Durugappa, Sharanabasava, Kenchamma, Yallappa and Ningappa Doddamani.According to the case details, the incident occurred on Feb 10, 2021, around 10.30am, when the accused, driven by previous enmity, formed an unlawful assembly and attacked Hanumanthamma and her sons Sharanabasava and Amaresh.The attackers allegedly used sticks, axes and stones during the assault, causing grievous injuries to Sharanabasava. He was initially admitted to the Lingasugur Govt Hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Bagalkot for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.The investigation was carried out by then circle inspectors Mahantesh Sajjan and Ramesh Kulkarni, who submitted the chargesheet.During the trial, the prosecution was led by Govt Pleader Manjunath Bergi. After examining the evidence and arguments, the presiding judge BB Jakati found all 10 accused guilty and awarded life imprisonment along with a monetary fine.
