Zubeen case: Court reserves Shekharjyoti bail order
Guwahati: The fast-track court set up for speedy trial of the Zubeen Garg death case completed its hearing on the bail plea of accused Shekharjyoti Goswami on Monday but reserved its order. The verdict on the plea will be pronounced on May 28.
Shekharjyoti, Zubeen’s bandmate, is lodged in jail along with six others since Sept last year in connection with the singer’s death case.
Zubeen died on Sept 19 last year while swimming in the sea in Singapore. He went to the island nation on Sept 17 and was about to perform in the fourth edition of the North East India Festival.
Following the incident, an SIT constituted by the Assam Police CID conducted an extensive probe and filed a chargesheet in Dec. The chargesheet named seven accused, including festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta. Of them, four were booked on charges of murder.
Earlier, the court rejected bail to Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma.
