In a post on X, Sarma said it would be a “historic day” on Monday as Shah is set to dedicate the project to the people of Assam. “This project is very close to my heart and will represent our beautiful culture and further spread Gurujona’s ideals,” he wrote.
Sarma said the redevelopment will highlight Assam’s cultural richness while promoting the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva, the revered Vaishnavite saint. The project aims to transform Batadrava Than, Sankardeva’s birthplace, into a world-class spiritual and cultural destination.
Nearly 90% of the work has been completed, and the inauguration is expected to draw thousands of devotees and dignitaries.
Shah will also inaugurate the Rs 177-crore Intelligent City Surveillance System (ICSS). The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving crowd management with advanced technology.
Public announcement systems and emergency call boxes have been installed at 20 locations, while environmental sensors have been placed at 10 prime locations as part of the project. Cameras and equipment have been installed at prime junctions, crime-prone, accident-prone and high-crowd areas identified by Assam Police.
