NSCN-K cadre surrenders in Arunachal’s Tirap
Itanagar: A cadre of the NSCN-K (Niki Sumi) has surrendered before security forces at Khonsain in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.Officials identified the cadre as 37-year-old self-styled lieutenant Wangjong Wangsu, a resident of Longsom village in Longding district. He surrendered at the office of the Tirap superintendent of police on Monday in the presence of the police, 44 Assam Rifles, and the 36th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.

A pistol and one live round of ammunition were recovered from his possession. Security forces described the surrender as a significant step toward restoring peace and normalcy in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) districts.Authorities emphasised that the move strengthens ongoing peace initiatives and could encourage other misguided youth to abandon violence and join the mainstream. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order while supporting rehabilitation measures for those who voluntarily surrender.Meanwhile, the Tirap district administration and security agencies have appealed to the public to cooperate in sustaining peace and development in the district and adjoining areas.
