IIM Shillong joins elite league of global B-schools

Shillong: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has been awarded the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation, globally regarded as the gold standard in management education.AACSB formally recognised IIM Shillong’s accreditation in its official global announcement released in 2026.“This landmark achievement places IIM Shillong among an elite group of business schools worldwide that have successfully met AACSB’s rigorous standards of excellence in teaching, research, curriculum, learner success, and societal impact. AACSB accreditation is earned by less than 6% of business schools globally, making it one of the most respected recognitions in management education,” the IIM said on Thursday.“With this achievement, IIM Shillong joins around 30 AACSB-accredited institutions in India and becomes one of the select IIMs to receive this globally recognised accreditation, further strengthening its international standing in management education,” an IIM statement said.“The accreditation reflects IIM Shillong’s commitment to academic excellence, sustainability-driven management education, research, innovation, and global engagement. The rigorous AACSB peer-review process evaluated the institute across strategic management, faculty quality, research, learner outcomes, industry engagement, and continuous improvement,” the IIM release read.“This achievement reflects the collective effort and commitment of the entire IIM Shillong community towards earning global recognition. We remain committed to fulfilling our strategic vision and AACSB commitments over the next six years while continuously strengthening the Institute’s global reputation,” Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, director in charge of IIM Shillong, said.The accreditation further enhances IIM Shillong’s opportunities for international collaborations, academic partnerships, student and faculty exchange, executive education, global research initiatives, and deeper engagement with industry and policymakers.“Established in 2007, IIM Shillong, located amid the scenic hills of Meghalaya has consistently emerged as a leading institution promoting values-driven and sustainability-oriented management education,” the IIM stated.
