D-voters with new names found in rolls, Dhubri DC warns of legal action
Dhubri: District commissioner of Dhubri Dibakar Nath, while addressing the media on the release of the draft voter list, on Saturday said many “D-voters” had managed to include their names in the rolls by using different identities.
“Legal action will be taken once the verification process is completed. Besides this, several other lapses have come to light during the special revision and will be corrected in the final electoral rolls,” Nath added.
The DC said in the draft of the revised electoral rolls, 395 names were deleted in constituency no.-6 Golokganj, 211 in constituency no.-8 Dhubri, and 110 in constituency no.-9 Birsing Jarua. Meanwhile, 1,481 new voters were added in constituency no.-7 Gauripur and 319 in constituency no.-10 Bilasipara.
Among those deleted were individuals who had passed away, voters enrolled outside the district due to marriage, and several D-voters who had re-enrolled themselves under new names, Nath said.
An official added that the district election office will publish the final revised voter list on Feb 10.
