Guwahati: Congress Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi, during a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, alleged that PM Modi did not prioritise controlling the Manipur violence and visited the state for only two-and-a-half hours, two-and-a half-years after the strife began. Bordoloi said Modi has travelled to 39 foreign countries, including three visits to the US, two to Russia, two to France, and three to the UAE, since the violence started in Manipur.

“Although he claims to always prioritise the northeast, during his visit to Manipur, he only met a few selected people indoors and left,” he said.“We thank the PM for coming to Assam to pay tributes to Bhupen Hazarika,” Bordoloi said, adding that Bhupen Hazarika’s principles are vastly different from those of BJP. “The PM rightly said that Bhupen Hazarika united the people of India with his voice. But contrary to this, BJP has been dividing India through politics of violence and division,” Bordoloi alleged.Opposition leader Debabrata Saikia was also present at the press conference, where MP Bordoloi stated that criticising Congress is Narendra Modi’s main task and mentioned that criticising the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, is like a disease for BJP.
