Cachar bans movement along Indo-Bangla border after dark
Silchar: Cachar district administration has imposed a slew of preventive restrictions along sensitive stretches of the Indo-Bangladesh border amid apprehensions over possible movement of extremist elements and unauthorised cross-border activities.District magistrate Mridul Yadav, invoking powers under Section 163 of the BNSS, issued an ex parte order on Tuesday restricting movement of people and goods during night hours to pre-empt activities that could disturb public order.Cachar district shares 32-km border with Bangladesh.

As per the order, movement of individuals has been prohibited from sunset to sunrise within a one-kilometre belt along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Cachar district. Night-time movement on the river Surma and along its high banks within Indian territory has also been barred, with authorities stepping up vigilance. Boating and fishing on the Surma have been placed under strict regulation.
