Itanagar: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly stalking, trespassing, and attempting to outrage the modesty of two women in separate incidents across the Capital Complex Region (ICR) over the weekend. The accused has been identified as John Loda, a resident of Seppa in East Kameng district. He was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into the twin attacks, ICR Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega said on Thursday. The SP said the terror began around 3am on June 7 when Loda allegedly targeted a woman’s house in Naharlagun. Equipped with two pairs of scissors, the teenager tried to force his way inside through a window and a door.Barely 30 minutes later, while police were being alerted of the first break-in attempt, Loda struck again in the nearby Lekhi area under Nirjuli PS jurisdiction. This time, he sneaked into the rented room of a woman while she was fast asleep. He allegedly covered her mouth to muffle her screams and used the scissors to cut her clothes in a bid to assault her. However, the survivor refused to back down.“The victim displayed remarkable courage, fought back, and resisted the assault,” Nega said. “During the struggle, the accused inflicted minor injuries to her face before fleeing the spot,” he added.
