Willing to resolve internal issues with Borkar: Parab
Panaji: Days after cryptic social media posts, RGP president Manoj Parab said that strict action will be taken against anyone, including the party MLA, involved in anti-party activities.
Parab said that St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar’s supporters have created a divide within the party, which led to the bitter feud.
Meanwhile, RG functionary Ajay Kholkar downplayed talks about the party being dissolved, calling it a “wrong narrative” that is being spread by Borkar’s supporters. Kholkar said that the party remains active and committed to Goa.
“The party is ready to resolve the issues. Viresh has to come to the party office tomorrow and hold a peaceful discussion. We are ready to provide all information to Viresh. We also want to know what happened at the Margao meeting,” said Parab.
Kholkar said that the party has issued a show-cause notice to Borkar over his association with suspended member Julius Almeida. He claimed that Borkar had skipped executive committee meetings and failed to respond to overtures made by party’s senior leadership.
Kholkar said that Borkar was served a notice on April 16, followed by reminders on April 21, April 29 and a final reminder on May 3. “We will call the MLA to the party office tomorrow, meet him officially and seek clarification,” he said.
He said that he “cried” in front of Borkar multiple times while warning the latter that some party members were trying to create a rift within the party.
“I posted in the CEC WhatsApp group informing Viresh that he can take over the party, I am ready. The party wanted to upgrade the performance of Viresh in the assembly. We wanted him to be top like Vijai Sardesai. Whenever Viresh has performed well, we were celebrating it with him,” said Parab.
“Viresh is a party member first, then an MLA. Borkar was absent for three CEC meetings,” said Kholkar.
