Undertrial hurt in Colvale jail assault

Mapusa: Colvale police have registered a case against three inmates of Colvale Central Jail — Narayan alias Babu Bhalekar, Sagar Patil and Manthan Chari — for allegedly assaulting fellow prisoner Seemanchal Parida.The incident occurred around 6 pm on Wednesday in Block No. 4 when inmates were being released for dinner. According to deputy superintendent Bomu Pavane’s complaint, the trio cornered Parida and assaulted him with fists and a baton, fracturing his right jaw.Parida, an accused in the Dr Nirvan Bharat murder case, was shifted from North Goa District Hospital to Goa Medical College. tnn
