Shruti Haasan recently offered a candid peek into her off-screen bond with her father,
Kamal Haasan, revealing a side of the legendary star that rarely makes it to the public eye. Despite his towering legacy built through films like ‘Nayakan’ and ‘Indian’, at home he’s simply a father sharing Instagram reels with his daughter.
In a chat with Mashable India, Shruti shared that she has never directly approached her father or Rajinikanth for professional guidance. Instead, she absorbed invaluable lessons just by observing them. Referring to icons known for films like ‘Thalapathi’ and ‘Shivaji’, she highlighted how both stars maintain a quiet yet relentless work ethic.

“The thing that’s common in both of them is that they’re both so hardworking. And it’s not hardworking like ‘yaar main itna kaam kar raha hu (I am working so hard), I’m so tensed’. They’re chupchaap (quietly) hardworking. They will give their lives for it quietly. They’re not creating tension. They’re maintaining their offices and their families, and working like beasts. That trait is beautiful,” she said.
Shruti also spoke about how refreshingly normal their relationship is, far removed from the glamour associated with their names.
Conversations at home rarely revolve around cinema. Instead, they engage in everyday chats, just like any other father-daughter duo. One of the most amusing revelations was Kamal Haasan’s fondness for Instagram reels. According to Shruti, he frequently sends her a mix of quirky, artistic, and sometimes “cringe” content.
“We are normal baap-beti talking about normal baap-beti stuff. He sends lots of reels on Instagram. There are some cringe reels. Then I’d tell him, ‘This aunty is really not funny, appa’. But he’ll also send really artistic stuff. Then he’ll send a little girl singing, which I know is a callback to me. That’s cute. He loves videos of people cooking in villages, musicians and art,” she added.
