Two-week sand art festival in Nov at Miramar beach gets nod
Panaji: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has granted approval for the Goa Sand Art Festival (GSFA) to be held at Miramar in Nov.
“The authority, after detailed discussion, decided to grant permission for a free-to-view festival: the Goa Sand Art Festival at Miramar beach from Nov 14 to 30, requiring approximately 15,000 sqft area,” the GCZMA said.
In July, the festival director and the founder of Sand Cult had requested an NOC to host the festival in two options. The festival director had put forth two options for approval— a free-to-view festival: A two-week event from Nov 14 to 30, requiring approximately 15,000 sqft and a pay-to-view public exhibition: A six-month exhibition from Nov 2025 to April 2026, requiring a larger area of approximately 25,000 sqft, including a few temporary tents.
According to Sand Cult, the festival aims to offer interactive workshops for local artists, students, and enthusiasts, fostering creativity and community participation. “A parallel school engagement programme is planned to inspire young minds and promote awareness of Goa’s sustainable development vision. Sand Cult states that the event will diversify Goa’s tourism offerings, provide an enriching artistic and environmental experience, and support local employment and the creative economy,” the authority stated.
