Remarks against people of Sattari: Naik logs statement

Valpoi: Actor and activist Rajdeep Naik appeared at the Valpoi police station on Friday following a summons in connection with his alleged remarks about the people of Sattari during a recent protest in Panaji.Naik was accompanied by advocate Amit Palekar, who confirmed that Naik cooperated fully with the authorities. During his appearance, Naik recorded his statement and also submitted supporting evidence to assist in the investigation into the matter.Palekar stated, “We intend to challenge the FIR registered against Naik in court. Appropriate legal steps, including an application for anticipatory bail, have already been filed.”The controversy erupted after statements allegedly made by Naik during the Panaji protest led to a complaint by Sattari residents and subsequent police action.Naik, however, has firmly denied the allegations, asserting that his remarks were misunderstood. He added that he would not apologise even as he emphasised his cooperation with the police during questioning.The investigation is ongoing, with police examining the evidence and statements submitted by Naik.
