Mapusa: An accused in the 2015 alleged rape case was granted bail by the Mapusa court after more than one year and three months in judicial custody. The alleged accused, Sachin Rana from Uttarakhand, was arreted in December 2015 .
The applicant had told the court that he was falsely implicated in a henious offence. He also stated that he has been in custody for more than one year and three months and the prosecution failed to examine a single witness in the case.
Rana stated that the complainant and the victim girl have been summoned on numerous occasions but they failed to appear before the court.
According to the police, the survivor, who was working as the maid in a house at Porvorim, was raped by the accused and also threatened.
Opposing the bail application, the police said that the accused is the native of Uttarakhand and if he is released on bail there is every possibility of him absconding. the
Judge Bela Naik granted bail to the accused on condition that applicant shall execute the personal bond of Rs 25000, with one surety.
