Iffi’s restored classics section to feature 7 world premieres

Panaji: The 54th edition of Iffi will allow delegates to take a walk down memory lane this year, for it has introduced the ‘restored classics’ section that will feature seven world premieres of restorations done from damaged celluloid reels of Indian classics under the National Film Heritage Mission.

Three Hindi films — ‘Guide’ (1965) directed by Vijay Anand, ‘Haqeeqat’ (1964) directed by Chetan Anand, and ‘Bees Saal Baad’ (1962) directed by Biren Nag — will be featured.

Regional language films, ‘Vidyapati’ (1937) in Bengali by Debaki Bose, ‘Shyamchi Aai’ (1953) in Marathi by P K Are, ‘Patala Bhairavi’ (1951) in Telugu by K V Reddy, and Chorus (1974) in Bengali by Mrinal Sen, will also be featured in this section.

In addition, there will be three internationally restored films showcased in this section, including ‘The Exorcist Extended Director’s Cut’ from Venice, and Sergei Parajanov’s ‘Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors’.
