Panaji: The North Goa police seized drugs worth Rs 18 lakh in Aug, and arrested seven people in NDPS cases. Police seized 9.2kg of ganja worth Rs 8.9 lakh, 21.1g of cocaine worth Rs 2.4 lakh, 1.5g of ecstasy worth Rs 25,000, and 65g of hydroponic ganja worth Rs 6 lakh in cases booked in Anjuna, Mandrem, Panaji, Mapusa, and Calangute police stations, said North Goa SP Rahul Gupta.
Of the seven arrested, one was a foreign national, one was Goan, and the rest were from other parts of India.
“Operation ‘Flush Out’ was conducted in North Goa with the aim to apprehend foreigners involved in drug activities and overstaying in India without valid travel documents. A case was booked against a Nigerian national at Anjuna police station under the NDPS Act, and police seized 18.1g of cocaine worth Rs 1.8 lakh from him,” said Gupta.
He said one case under the Foreigners Order & Foreigners Act was booked against a British national at Anjuna police station for overstaying without valid travel documents.
