2 riders die, 2 injured in Parra road accident

Calangute: A 31-year-old resident of Tivim, Omkar Karapurkar, and Mapusa resident Mohammad Faraz, died in an accident after their two-wheelers collided at Saligao late on Wednesday night.Saligao police received information that an accident had occurred on the Saligao-Parra road, involving a motorcycle and a scooter.Police said the riders and pillion riders of both vehicles sustained injuries and were taken to the district hospital, Mapusa.An inquiry has revealed, police said, that the rider of the motorcycle, Karapurkar, and pillion rider Dipesh Pednekar, were proceeding from Saligao towards Mapusa, while the scooterist, Faraz, and pillion rider Jebin Sultana, a 25-year-old resident of Karaswada, were proceeding in the opposite direction.“Faraz and Karapurkar succumbed to their injuries, while pillion riders Pednekar and Sultana are critically injured and undergoing treatment at GMC,” police said.Further inquiry is in progress under the Saligao police station.
