Pawan Kalyan's much-anticipated historical action drama 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 Sword vs Spirit' is having an underwhelming performance at the box office. The latest buzz suggests that the film might be released sooner on the OTT platform than the initial date.
Independence Day release in the works?
As per a report by 123Telugu, the period drama movie is speculated to arrive on OTT earlier than expected. Initially planned for a digital premiere on August 22, 2025, the latest industry buzz suggests that the makers are eyeing an August 15 release instead, coinciding with Independence Day.
While no official confirmation has been made by the production team yet, it is anticipated that the streaming platform and the filmmakers are considering preponing the release to cash in on the Independence Day weekend. The move is reportedly being evaluated as a way to maximise reach and recover losses after the film's theatrical run underperformed.
The period drama was released amid high expectations and massive promotions, as it was touted to be Pawan Kalyan's first full-fledged pan-Indian film. However, despite a strong start, the movie faced mixed reviews and couldn't sustain momentum at the ticket window.
