GURUGRAM: Two college students, one pursuing BTech and another BBA, were arrested in Faridabad for allegedly attempting to smuggle liquor into Bihar in the name of lubricants.
Police said the students — Nikhil (20), a local resident, and Prince (19), originally from Bihar — were nabbed while they were placing a deal with a logistics company in Faridabad’s Sector 30 on Monday morning to transport 38 cartons (of liquor) to Bihar.

It was the manager of Om Logistics, Lalit Kumar, who had alerted the cops about the consignment that the two were trying to send to Bihar under the garb of lubricants. Sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Bihar.
Kumar, police said, became suspicious when Nikhil and Prince handed him over a purported tax invoice to send the consignment to a company, named Power Active Lubricants, in Bihar. Kumar spotted some discrepancies in the invoice and opened two of the cartons only to find liquor bottles in them. A team from Sector 31 police station immediately reached the spot and arrested the accused and seized the liquor bottles. During interrogation, Nikhil and Prince told the cops that they were eyeing quick money by selling liquor from Haryana in Bihar at higher rates.
While Prince was earlier booked in an illegal smuggling case in Bihar, Nikhil had no such criminal history. Prince is doing BTech and Nikhil BBA from different colleges in Faridabad.
Police said the two were booked under IPC Section 420 (cheating). “We are investigating the source of the liquor and the role of Power Active Lubricants in Bihar. We have alerted Bihar Police,” said Faridabad police spokesperson Sube Singh.
