NEW DELHI: ‘RPM was high’, said a woman who accidentally drove a brand-new
Mahindra Thar through the glass wall of a car showroom in east Delhi, denying rumours that she was seriously injured or killed in the crash.
The incident took place at a showroom in Nirman Vihar.
According to police the mishap occurred during a ritual for good luck, where the vehicle was meant to roll over a lemon.
But instead of a gentle start, the 29-year-old woman reportedly pressed the accelerator, sending the SUV hurtling through the railing before plunging down.
According to the woman, her husband and a salesman were inside the vehicle and escaped without serious injuries.
In a video statement posted on Instagram, the woman dismissed false reports circulating on social media that she had died or sustained fractures.
“I am alive and not dead. Please stop spreading fake videos,” she said.
“Once the car fell, all three of us exited through the front door and none of us sustained any injuries.”
She added that the SUV was at “high RPM” when it suddenly accelerated, causing the plunge.
The woman further said that she was not driving at the time of the accident, stating that her husband was behind the wheel.
