Delhi BJP MPs urge LG to probe AAP charge of Rs 20 crore offer to switch sides
NEW DELHI: The seven BJP Lok Sabha members from Delhi have written to lieutenant governor VK Saxena seeking an inquiry into the allegations of AAP that its 40 MLAs were offered Rs 20 crore each to switch sides.
The BJP MPs claimed that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia levelled “malicious, false and misleading” allegations in an attempt to divert attention from the alleged liquor scam of Delhi government.
“We, the MPs of BJP, are obviously aggrieved at this grossly defamatory and unsubstantiated allegations. Accordingly, we request you to get a comprehensive inquiry conducted into the matter by a competent authority so that the truth can come out for the people of Delhi and India to see,” stated the letter.
The signatories included BJP MPs Meenakshi Lekhi, Manoj Tiwari, Parvesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri and Hans Raj Hans, while Harsh Vardhan and Gautam Gambhir gave their consent to it through phone as they were out of Delhi. “This is an obvious attempt to divert people’s attention from their obvious involvement in the liquor and classroom scams, among others,” the letter further said.
Earlier this month, Sisodia had alleged that he had personally received a message asking him to join BJP in return for dropping the CBI case against him. Sisodia is named as an accused by CBI in the alleged irregularities in implementation of Excise Policy 2021-22. Kejriwal had claimed that to topple his government in Delhi, Rs 800 crore were kept aside by BJP to poach 40 AAP MLAs.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said the “loot” committed by the Kejriwal government in the name of constructing classrooms had now come to the fore. He added they had asked a few contractors to send quotations for constructing a 300 square metre semi-permanent room.
“About five of them quoted about Rs 6 lakh. This leaves no room for any doubt that the Kejriwal government indulged in corruption worth over Rs 500 crore even in these mandirs of shiksha,” said Gupta, while demanding resignation of education minister Sisodia and his sacking from the AAP government.
