Man killed by falling rock on Gangotri highway

Uttarkashi: A 28-year-old man died during treatment at the Uttarkashi district hospital after he was struck by a falling stone from a hill near Ganeshpura on the Gangotri national highway on Thursday.According to the Disaster Control Room, Mayank Panwar was seriously injured when a stone fell from a hillside and hit him around 4.30 pm. He was immediately taken to Uttarkashi district hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.Mayank Panwar was a resident of Lata village in Bhatwari tehsil of Uttarkashi district. Officials said that the stones began falling from the hill due to a forest fire near Ganeshpur in the area. Ashish Mishra
