SSP Ajai Singh informed the media that the murder stemmed from a Rs 14 crore property dispute between Sharma and his mother. "On Thursday morning, the two shooters — Rajeev and Pankaj — were nabbed after a brief encounter in Raipur. Based on their interrogation, three accused -- Arjun's mother, Beena Sharma; her friend, Vinod Uniyal; and Dr Ajay Khanna -- were arrested," said Singh.
The SSP added that cops also found that Dr Khanna had struck a deal with Beena to purchase her property for Rs 14 cr and already paid Rs 8 cr. However, Arjun had objected to the transaction and demanded a share, as it was their family property acquired by his deceased father. Arjun then obtained a stay order from the court on the property's sale.
Police said that despite paying Rs 8 cr, Khanna was unable to secure possession and was putting pressure on Beena to return the money. Subsequently, Beena, Khanna, and Uniyal conspired to eliminate Arjun.
