Trivendra Singh Rawat hails ‘historic’ SC verdict, congratulates Shayara Bano

DEHRADUN: Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on Tuesday which put a six-month stay on triple talaq and directed the Parliament to enact a law within the given time period. He also congratulated Shayara Bano from Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district saying that her initiative had brought fruitful results.“This is a big win for women and I congratulate her,” the CM said. Terming the verdict as “historic”, the chief minister took to Twitter and said, “It was a fight for the rights and dignity of our Muslim sisters. This verdict will ensure they get their rights.”
