CM cracks whip; Dehradun SSP removed, sr officers transferred

Dehradun: In the backdrop of two murders in posh localities of Dehradun within a space of three days, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took a serious note, and his govt shifted officers in various districts, including SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh. He is now given charge of SSP STF.Haridwar SSP Parmendra Dobhal has been shifted to Dehradun in the same capacity. Navneet Singh has been named SSP Haridwar while SSP Udham Singh Nagar Manikant Mishra has been replaced by Ajay Ganpati.Police chiefs of Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Almora and Champawat were also changed. SP Rudraprayag Akshay Prahlad has been made SP Pithoragarh. SP Niharika Tomar is the new SP Rudraprayag. Chandrasekhar Ghodke, who till now held charge of SP Bageshwar, has been named as SSP Almora, and Jitendra Kumar Mehra given charge of SP Bageshwar. SP Pithoragarh Rekha Yadav is the new SP of Champawat district.Dhami earlier also gave strict instructions to officials through continuous review meetings on law and order and said "the govt is working with full commitment on policy of zero tolerance towards crime".After recent incidents, police took swift action and arrested the accused in a time-bound manner. Dhami instructed officials that, for prevention of crime, not only post-incident action, but preventive strategies should be strengthened.
