Bail racket busted in Haridwar, 4 held
Haridwar: Four people have been arrested for allegedly working as professional bailors and submitting affidavits with false information in courts in exchange for money, police said on Monday. Officials said the accused, all in their 40s, appeared before an ACJM court and submitted affidavits containing false information on behalf of various accused persons.Police said they were part of a larger racket, and more arrests are expected. SIDCUL police station SHO Nitesh Sharma told TOI, "The accused have been identified as Ujjawal Singh, Naresh Pratap Bahuguna, Kamlesh and Naresh Kumar. They submitted affidavits with false information, claiming they had never stood as bailors in any court earlier. It was found that they routinely stood surety for accused persons in exchange for money."
