Rudrapur: A 26-year-old tempo stand clerk died after allegedly coming under a moving train near Rudrapur railway station late on Sunday night.
Police said Karan Khera (26), son of Lalit Khera and a resident of Khushi Enclave in the Bhurarani area under Ward 31 of Rudrapur, worked as a clerk at the Rudrapur tempo stand.
Police said Khera had gone out for some work on Sunday night and allegedly came under a train around midnight near the railway station. The impact severed both his legs, leaving him critically injured.
Passersby alerted members of the Bharat Sewa Team, a social organisation, who rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Sub-inspector Jeevan Singh Adhikari from Kotwali Rudrapur said, "The body has been sent for post-mortem and handed over to the family. Police are trying to ascertain which train was involved and the exact circumstances of the incident."
Officials said the deceased was unmarried and the elder of two brothers.
