COIMBATORE: Former
AIADMK minister and Thondamuthur constituency candidate S P Velumani performed silambam, a traditional martial art, during his campaign at Kuniyamuthur here on Wednesday.
Velumani campaigned in several parts of his constituency. When he arrived at Idayarpalayam near Kuniyamuthur, he received a grand welcome from local youths and children.
A group of young silambam practitioners showcased their skills by spinning traditional staffs. The rhythmic performance attracted a large crowd and turned the political visit into a cultural celebration. Impressed by the children’s enthusiasm, Velumani joined the performers. He picked up a staff and briefly demonstrated his silambam skills, delighting the crowd.
