Two sentenced to imprisonment for cheating TN govt job aspirant of Rs 2.4 lakh
ERODE: A court in Erode has sentenced a man and a woman to five years of imprisonment for duping a govt job aspirant of Rs 2.4 lakh and imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 on each of them.S Praveena, 31, of the Karungalpalayam area of Erode, who was looking for a govt job, became acquainted with Vijayalakshmi, 44, of the same area. Vijayalakshmi told Praveena that John Moorthy, 47, of Dindigul district, whom she knew, would get her a govt job. Vijayalakshmi and John Moorthy collected Rs 2.4 lakh from Praveena promising to secure a govt job for her. However, Praveena did not get a job. Praveena filed a complaint against the duo with Karungalpalayam police. But since the police didn’t register a case, she moved the Madras high court. As directed by the high court, the Erode district crime branch police registered a case against the duo in 2018 and arrested them.On Tuesday, Erode criminal judicial magistrate court II judge Rajkumar pronounced the verdict against John Moorthy and Vijayalakshmi.
