Tension grips in Tamil Nadu's Satinayakkanpatty as TVK flag found on DMK pole
KRISHNAGIRI: Tension gripped in Krishnagiri district near Pochampally on Wednesday after a Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam (TVK) flag was found hoisted on a DMK flagpole in Satinayakkanpatty village.
The flagpole was installed by former panchayat president and DMK member Venila Murugesan on the edge of her private agricultural land.
“The original DMK flag was earlier removed in view of the 2026 Assembly elections,” she said.
According to local villagers, an unidentified person hoisted the TVK flag on the DMK pole in the early hours of Wednesday. When local DMK members noticed it in the morning, more than 100 party workers gathered at the spot.
Parur police rushed to the area and began talks with DMK members. Party workers demanded that the flag should not be removed until the person responsible for hoisting it is identified and arrested.
With the situation turning tense, over 20 police personnel were deployed in the village.
