Online applications begin for UG, PG courses at Government Arts College, Bharathiar University
COIMBATORE: Admissions for the 2026–27 academic year have opened at Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, and Bharathiar University. Students have been asked to apply online as colleges witness a surge in inquiries following the Class XII results.
Government Arts College said the UG admission process began on May 7, and applications must be submitted only through the Tamil Nadu Government Arts and Science Colleges Admission portal, www.tngasa.in. The last date to apply is May 29, 2026. The college has clarified that applications will not be issued on the campus, and students and parents have been requested not to visit the college in person for submission.
According to principal Dr M R Yezhili, the college offers 23 undergraduate programmes in Shift I and Shift II, with a total first-year intake of 1,727 students. Shift I classes will be held from 9am to 1.30pm while Shift II will run from 1.45pm to 6.30pm.
Yezhili said admissions would be granted strictly on the basis of Class XII marks and in accordance with the Tamil Nadu government’s communal reservation policy. Students have been advised to select as many eligible courses as possible while applying.
To support applicants, the college will operate a student admission facilitation centre on the campus from May 8 onwards on all working days, between 10 am and 4 pm. The centre will assist students with admission-related queries and online application submission, if needed.
Meanwhile, Bharathiar University has invited online applications for admission to several undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes offered by its departments for the academic year 2026–27.
The courses include BSc. (Blended) Physics, BSc. (Blended) Chemistry, BSc (Blended) Biosciences, BPEd, BVoc in multimedia and animation, BVoc in Business Process and Data Analytics, MA, MSc., MCom, MCA, MEd, MPEd, Master of Library and Information Science, and PG diploma programmes.
Details regarding fees, scholarships, course duration and hostel facilities are available on the university website, www.b-u.ac.in. Eligible candidates can apply online at https://fms.b-u.ac.in/admission until May 15.
Applicants seeking admission to more than one course must submit separate applications for each programme. The registration fee is Rs 400 per programme, while SC/ST candidates need to pay Rs 200 on submission of a community certificate copy.
The university said downloaded applications must be sent with scanned copies of relevant certificates, including SSLC, HSC, UG mark statements, community certificate, provisional certificate and degree certificate, where applicable, to the concerned heads of departments, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore – 641046, on or before May 15, 2026.
MBA admissions will be based on qualifications prescribed for the TANCET entrance examination and through TNMBA counselling.
