Govt staffer arrested for harassing colleague
Coimbatore: The Singanallur police on Tuesday arrested a 47-year-old man working in the Irugur town panchayat office for sexually harassing a woman colleague.
The accused was identified as A Rajadurai, a resident of Irugur, who has been working as a driver for the last 23 years. “The victim was deputed to monitor people to ensure that they don’t step out of houses without wearing face mask.

Rajadurai harassed her several times during working hours last week. The incident came to light after she consumed poison and was admitted to a hospital,” a police officer said.
Based on her complaint, police arrested Rajadurai under sections 354 (A) (i) (ii) (assault with an intent to outrage the modesty of a woman), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. He was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
