Working as domestic help, Chennai student scores 428 in Class 12, gets Ethiraj College with full scholarship
CHENNAI: Ethiraj College for Women offered admission to R Annapoorani, a student from Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet, who scored 428 marks in Class XII exams while working in multiple houses after her school hours.
Abandoned at three months, she was brought up by her grandmother Kamalam, who worked as a domestic help to provide her education.
She worked in multiple houses after school hours to support the family and even during the exams she continued her work.
After knowing her achievements, V M Muralidharan, chairman of Ethiraj College for Women chairman has offered admission to her in BSc computer science with AI programme with a full fee waiver as scholarship support.
S Uma Gowrie, principal of the college said the college remains committed to support talented and determined students who aspire to transform their lives through education, despite challenging circumstances.
