Chennai: Police cracked the
murder of a Chennai-based man, found dead inside a forest area near the distant Vandavasi, by arresting the victim’s wife and another man who was her relative.
The body of Anbalagan, 36, of Manapakkam was recovered from the forest in Thiruvannamalai district, on March 17. A day later, his wife A Nadhiya lodged a complaint with Mangadu police saying her husband had gone missing.
Anbalagan was employed as a house keeping staff at an IT major in Ramapuram.
On Saturday police arrested the 23-year-old wife of the victim and her relative S Nagaraj, who worked in Bengaluru. Mangadu police suspected the involvement of Nagaraj in the murder as verification of his mobile phone showed Vandavasi as tower location. Though the two initially denied involvement, intense inquiry revealed that the two were in relationship, said police.
It was found that Nagaraj had invited Anbalagan for a party at a secluded spot in Vandavasi forests. After Anbalagan got drunk, Nagaraj slit his throat and left him there to die. He then took a bus to Bengaluru, where he works," said an officer.
Police said Nadhiya was also arrested because she was party to the murder plan. A court in Poonamallee sent them to jail on Saturday.
