Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik visited Chennai on Sunday and held a meeting with senior functionaries to discuss the party's campaign strategy for the state.
At the four-hour-long meeting at TNCC headquarters here, Wasnik sought details of the state and district level meetings planned, the themes of the meetings and the issues to be highlighted. Since most of the district presidents were newly appointed, he gave them instructions on ways and means to reach out to people.

After the meeting, Wasnik told reporters that the DMK – Congress alliance would win the elections. "We have formed a formidable alliance in the state. People of the state will repose their faith in our alliance," he said. Asked whether Congress still demanded power sharing, Wasnik said the party's position on the issue was already in public domain, an apparent reference to the seat-sharing arrangement with DMK. "Any other information regarding the subject is mere speculation," he said. He said the dates for Rahul Gandhi's visit to TN, will be announced soon.
